Infinity Institute now presents a chapter for 2023’s NHS and NJHS. If you are not aware, the NHS stands for the National Honor Society. This society is an international organization that is based on raising students on their academic journey. The NJHS stands for the National Junior Honor Society. Like the name, this is a junior version of the NHS. This year, there have been new members inducted for Infinity Institute’s 2023-2024 chapter of the NHS and NJHS. The new members were inducted on November 28th and November 29th of 2023. In honor of new inductees for the 2023-2024 chapter, this piece of writing will provide fundamental information on what the NHS and NJHS are based on.
“What Are the NHS and NJHS Looking for?”
As a clarification, the NHS includes members that are most likely located in high school. On the other hand, the NJHS takes students who are in middle school. To get into these prestigious organizations, there are four pillars that are to be met: service, scholarship, leadership, and character. Note that the NJHS also includes citizenship as a pillar. Citizenship includes aspects of a citizen being respectful and proud of their society and civil rights. These pillars are key to see in a member.
The Four Pillars
The four pillars (service, scholarship, leadership, and character) each have significance and meaning to the NHS and NJHS. Service shows how a person has served their society. Doing deeds such as community service represents how a person dedicates themselves to their community. Scholarship refers to academic achievements. It is significant to have a good academic record, as this proves what you are capable of, and how intelligent you are as a person. Leadership is very important, as being able to lead others is a crucial skill to have, for the growth of the individual and their peers. Lastly, the pillar of character presents a person’s ethics, honesty, respect for others, cooperation, and kindness. The person should have high standards of the aspects listed above to fulfill the pillar of character. These four pillars are what the NHS and NJHS look for in a member.
The Purpose of the NHS and NJHS
The NHS and NJHS are very reputable and esteemed organizations. However, many still wonder the actual purpose of the societies. What is the actual purpose of the NHS and NJHS? Well, the purpose of the organizations is to lift up a school’s dedication to the four pillars mentioned. In life, it is more than pivotal to include all these pillars as a person. These pillars are what will help an individual grow and succeed in life. Adapting these characteristics at a young age provides a starting point for being a strong, intelligent, caring, independent leader in life. Achieving a position as a member in the NHS or NJHS can give motivation to continue diligent hard work, and it gives a road to evolve as a human being.
In conclusion, the NHS and NJHS are two highly-respected establishments. Being a member of these two institutions means you include the elements of the following four pillars: service, scholarship, leadership, and character. All four pillars have prime features which are essential for a member; a person in general. Being in the NHS and NJHS gives a chance to raise the commitment to these four pillars, while also building a path which can lead to a bright and successful future. With this, let’s look forward to an exciting 2023-2024 school year with the NHS and NJHS!
