Shocking news everyone! Have you heard about the rumors of Infinity Infinity being transferred into a new school? Well it’s true! We are moving downtown!
New Location:
Our new location will be 35 Colgate St, Jersey City, NJ 07302. Just to be clear, Infinity Institute is not taking the main Ferris building, but we are moving into its spare building that they have that currently houses the “junior academy”.
History
Infinity Institute was originally on the property of Saint Paul Church. Before Infinity Institute was a school that took place in the building, the building was the church. After Infinity Institute came in, the school took a lease for the building and Saint Paul Church moved to the side of the building. This caused Infinity Institute to not be a permanent property of its own and doesn’t come to a permanent middle and high school list.
Why are we moving?
Due to the Infinity building being rented, the school has to renew their lease every year. However, when renewing the lease for the school year of 2025-2026, negotiations started.
Saint Paul took over and it was not acceptable for the school as all of the facilities would have to be shared with another Catholic School which would not work. It also didn’t work as the students would be mixed with the other students or people with similar ages.
The district looked at nearby areas where Infinity could move into, and then they found Ferris High School after much discussion.
Facilities:
Some of the facilities of the new school are:
- 2 parking lots
- 3 floors
- Auditorium
- Cafeteria
- Gym and basic facilities
- LED lights
Concerns:
Many parents have concerns about the distance from their homes as Ferris is considerably far and there cannot be any other type of transportation like the school bus except for the public bus (tickets will be given if they are over 2 miles away).
Good things:
Infinity Institute is not sharing with Ferris High School. This means that Ferris High School and Infinity Institute are separate, however they both are in the same place. Whatever Ferris High School staff members do, it doesn’t matter or goes into Infinity Institute’s problems. The new location that Infinity Institute will take place in will be permanent which means that Infinity Institute is a building that stays there forever in the new location.
The school will no longer be in lease. In addition, the school that we will be moving to is 40 years younger than the Infinity Institute building now! Therefore, the building will be much more modern and it is double the size of what it is today.
So, they have multiple new utilities and other features that Infinity does not, like air conditioners, making it a good building to move into! In addition, Infinity Institute will have everything separate like the auditorium and the gym are not combined and will be separated like a big gym in one place and the auditorium in another!
Basic Summary:
Bigger building, good area, same teachers, same curriculum, separate from Ferris which provides individuality for Infinity, bus and light rail tickets available. The only difference is the location.
Q&A:
Is Infinity going to stay the same?
- Yes, the admission, curriculum, staff, even the bell schedule and everything else will remain the same.
Will there still be bus tickets provided by the school?
- Yes, for students who live 2 miles or farther from the school.
If the student wants to switch schools, do they have to take the OLSAT again?
- It depends on the grade in which they have to take the OLSAT again.
Will the YMCA be a program at Infinity Institute?
- YMCA is still a ongoing matter and the school is not sure if it will be continuing (it isn’t Infinity’s decision, it is the YMCA’s decision).
