Week of Respect
Overview
The “Week of Respect” happens every school year and we do it somewhere in early October. This year, Infinity Institute made this event happen from October 7th to October 11th but let’s take a closer look at the days of the “Week of Respect”
Monday, October 7
The first day in the “Week of Respect” was “World Day of Bullying Prevention” day. Students could wear a blue shirt to raise awareness about bullying prevention and they could also bring in non-perishable food items such as canned beans and applesauce. Additionally, “World Day of Bullying Prevention” is on the first Monday of October. This is why the event couldn’t happen in the first week of October since it wasn’t a full week and didn’t have monday.
Tuesday, October 8
The second day of the event was fun since we all got to wear our favorite team’s jersey on “Infinity is Stronger as a Team” day. It was definitely a good day for people like Mr. Bonora and Mr. Finesurrey because they love talking about their favorite sports team. Even though I didn’t dress down for Tuesday, I know many of my other friends did and they love this day.
Wednesday, October 9
Now the third day was great and amazing for everybody, it was “Multicultural Day”! This school is pretty diverse and it was incredible seeing everybody’s outfits from their countries. Many people from India wore their beautiful traditional and casual outfits from their home country and I was astonished everytime one of them came into the room. Looking at the high school students’ pictures, I know people from Egypt were more than happy to wear traditional outfits. It makes me so happy to see people from my home country be proud of who they are, it’s awesome for everybody to be proud of where they come from.
Thursday, October 10
The fourth day is “Be Positive” where staff and students could wear a shirt with a positive affirmation on it. It was brilliant to see a bunch of students participating in this day and their shirts had great affirmations on it. I’m very glad that students here at Infinity Institute care about bullying and kindness a lot, it’s excellent.
Friday, October 11
The last day of the week, Friday, was “Chalk the Walk” day where anybody at Infinity could write words of encouragement and kindness on the front walk and our school’s E-wall. Although my grade and many other students couldn’t write on the front walk, I saw what the high schoolers did and it’s spectacular! They wrote positive affirmations and words, it was brilliant of them to do so. Students who couldn’t write on the front walk could post words of kindness on the school’s E-wall.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the “Week of Respect” is a week where many staff members and students participate. Many of us wore blue on Monday which was outstanding and it’s great that our school has the No Place for Hate, sets us in place. It’s also fantastic that a bunch of people at Infinity Institute participated in all the days of the week. My favorite day of “The Week of Respect” is probably Monday because I loved seeing how much people wore a blue shirt for bullying awareness. My second favorite day of this event is Wednesday because I loved seeing people’s traditional outfits which also helps peers more know about them.
