Consistency
Consistency is necessary for developing any skill, no matter what it may be. You can’t be successful in doing something by just having motivation, because motivation isn’t constant. You need to build motivation by being consistent to attain your goals, not the other way around. And consistency isn’t necessarily an easy thing to commit to. However when you do the same activity every day at the same time, your brain gets used to doing that and starts making the activity a habit that you naturally follow. Consistency makes room for improvement, while little sparks of motivation do not. Ultimately, consistency and working hard go hand in hand with each other when it comes to reaching your goals. Here are a few ways to improve your consistency.
- Create a schedule that you follow every day. You can even start planning out your day in the mornings before you start doing anything labeled as productive.
- Form goals and try to understand why they are important to you. This will be used as a source of motivation for attaining your goals/dreams.
- Focus on the little wins. And remember to reward yourself, so that you keep on working hard and understand how the little things will impact your success sooner or later.
- Try increasing your self confidence so that you believe that one day you will reach your goals successfully. Once you increase your confidence levels, you will automatically become a more disciplined and self-controlled person.
But why is consistency helpful? Consistency helps you to be held accountable when you make mistakes while working towards your goals. It also helps you identify your mistakes, therefore helping you learn and improve. It is also important because it helps you build the trust and confidence in yourself to live the future you want to live, helping you create a strong work ethic.
After reading this short article, I recommend that you make a to-do list for the rest of the day and also write a sentence or a few key words on how whatever’s on your planning list is going to help you in the future. Stick the list on your wall, or put it in a place where you can read it everyday right after you wake up. This will help your drive/spark achieve what you desire.
