The Arab American Inventor who made the iPod
The Arab American inventor, Anthony Tony Fadell, was hired by Steve Jobs and he launched the iPod and the iPhone. He was nicknamed as the “father of the iPod” and he was the one that made it possible to listen to music on the go. Although people could listen to music using MP3 players, “…none were popular enough to make the device the standard way of listening to music on the go. That is, until Apple CEO Steve Jobs hired Arab American inventor Anthony “Tony” Fadell and put him in charge of a new special projects group within the company tasked with doing exactly that.” (6 Groundbreaking Innovations by Arab Americans). His inventions were the reasons that blew up Apple, made the company famous, and made it to where it is today. In conclusion, we should all be thankful for Anthony Fadell’s idea because who knows what would happen if he didn’t get hired.
Anthony’s contribution to the world of science and technology is that he created a mobile device that could let people carry a mini computer that has the internet all the time. This was really advanced technology back when he invented the iPhone and it was really intelligent of him to do so. Anthony Fadell had a smart mind, “…the iPhone, which essentially allowed people to carry a highly compact computer with internet capability around at all times, and, in the process, changing the way people access information.” (6 Groundbreaking Innovations by Arab Americans). It was mind blowing to people because a mobile phone that doesn’t have just buttons of numbers on it was created. Hence, the iPhone was possibly the smartest invention in the 2000s decade because of its reliability.
He also had a contribution to the world of science and technology by trying to create a mobile phone based off of the iPod. Anthony wanted to go further with his inventions and wanted to create a more, useful device that can help you with anything and everything. He is known as “the father of the iPod” and then, “went on to oversee the first 18 iterations of the device before Jobs gave him his next assignment: to create a mobile phone with many of the same features as the iPod.” (6 Groundbreaking Innovations by Arab Americans). Anthony Fadell took inspiration from the iPod’s feature and made it into a new groundbreaking mobile phone. Furthermore, he is the reason that we have our iPhones and Apple products, he was the genius in the Apple headquarters.
Something I found meaningful about Anthony Fadell’s discovery is that he did exactly what Steve Jobs, who is the Apple CEO, told him to do. When Anthony did show it to Steve, I could imagine how surprised and happy Steve Jobs was when he saw the iPod. The Apple CEO who was Steve Jobs at the time, “That is, until Apple CEO Steve Jobs hired Arab American inventor Anthony “Tony” Fadell and put him in charge of a new special projects group within the company tasked with doing exactly that.” (6 Groundbreaking Innovations by Arab Americans). I can also suspect that Anthony had probably done the job better than Steve Jobs could imagine. Therefore, Anthony Tony Fadell is one of the greatest Arab American inventors that I had ever researched about.
If I could work on a science project with him, I would investigate how a phone works and how the screen pops up. This is because I want to learn more about technology and the topic is very interesting to cover. I would love to also know how the phone is able to react by our fingers touching it and taking pictures. Also, it’s really fascinating how much data a phone has of you because it can do Face ID or fingerprint to access your phone. To conclude, if I ever meet Anthony Fadell, I would ask him how he was able to create the iPod during the 2000s.
